Branding Strategies in an ever-changing digital world

Check out this presentation by David Pugh-Jones, Creative Strategist at MSN.

As Collective's Head of Strategy, it seems we all still have a long way to go but I can’t help thinking that broadcasters have the biggest journey ahead of them? Their focus still seems to be on getting more value (cash) out archive content when ultimately the real value has to come through innovation. Will be interesting to see how they offset the drop in advertising revenues in 09/10. My money would be on closer collaboration with brands to fund and create more completing experiences. What say you ...

Finalists at the 2009 Revolution Awards!

Some more great news here at Collective: we have been nominated as finalists in two categories at the Revolution Awards! Problem Playground and Honda.co.uk's re-development have been nominated in the Automotive Category and Honda.co.uk has also been nominated in the Best Website Category. This is the first time we have put Honda.co.uk up for an award, and we're delighted that the hard work Honda and Collective have put in to this truly groundbreaking project is now starting to be recognised by judging panels. You can see them at www.honda.co.uk and www.problemplayground.com

Congratulations to everyone who worked on these campaigns. Let's hope we'll be celebrating on March 20th!

Times are tough, and it really shows

When your staff are dedicated to their clients, it's nice to see them using their initiative to show the world just how much. Even though Grant only has one tog bag to bring his football kit in, he couldn't bear to face the office with a competitor's brand floating around. So out came the trusty Sharpie pen and chaos was restored.

Lets hope he doesn't run into big Toyota fans... Go Honda!

Chunk vs crumb

Fierce debate currently rages in one corner of the Collective studio (it's a slow month) over precisely when a 'crumb' becomes a 'chunk'. We're talking millimetres here, but it's a matter of vital importance. Early estimates vary from 5mm to a staggering 10mm.

What are YOUR thoughts on this burning issue?

Chunk or crumb?
Chunk or crumb? You decide

And while we're at it, exactly how much is a 'morsel'?

Snow-much fun…

With a zero-tolerance attitude to lame travel excuses that result in ‘Working from home’, the Collective were all in, full of beans and ready for war. However, without any competition available to rise to the challenge we were forced to hone our winter fighting skills against each other. Dedicated as we are to the digital world, you just can’t get a free lunchtime experience that compares to this.
